Not long after the Resurrection, Roman poets began experimenting with a new technology: the codex. It was a fabulous new way of communicating that enabled quick access and efficient use of resources. A codex is a hand copied, hand bound book! One can find a passage so much faster and it uses both sides of the writing surface for text. Christians were among the first to move on from scrolls and widely adopt the codex. Guttenburg’s printing press transformed the codex into the modern book. We have consistently used the fastest, most efficient means of communication in the Church.
The Vestry announced our focus for growth and improvement in September: communication. Communication is the lifeblood of an organization. How can one participate without knowing what is happening? The more efficiently we communicate mission and purpose, the more we can unify in that mission.

I wonder what sort of technical problems the scribes encountered when changing from scrolls to codices? The pothole in our digital journey at the moment is the blank page. Sometimes our new site serves an empty page. On the plus side, we know about the error and where it originates. We believe that we have corrected the error. The next few days should tell the tale! |
